2011-12-22 "Occupy Fort Collins Holds Funeral For The Bill Of Rights" by Beth Buczynski[http://www.care2.com/causes/occupy-fort-collins-holds-funeral-for-the-bill-of-rights.html]
President Barack Obama, despite previously promising to use his veto power, is poised to sign the highly controversial National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) into law.
Among other things, the bill creates a legal basis for the indefinite detention of suspected Al Qaeda terrorists and their allies. Also disturbing is the vague language used to define what behavior justifies such suspicion. The bill has been interpreted as a direct attack on the civil and human rights that have long set America apart from other nations.
The potential impact of the NDAA was not lost on members of the Occupy Wall Street movement.
In Colorado, members of Occupy Fort Collins [http://www.care2.com/causes/occupyfortcollins.org] held a public memorial service for a fictional person, Bill O’Rights, complete with the reading of a eulogy for what they perceive to be the death of the civil freedoms that “Bill” was supposed to protect.
